This project will serve HS graduates who are starting out on their own in apartments or dorms. Some of these students are "aging out" of foster care, and others are in low income situations. Join us as we collect items that are needed by these students. This is optional, but any contribution would be appreciated. Due to the early deadline, we will be collecting these items on April 10th. You may bring them to the meeting that day or to the Kids Against Hunger event. At the business meeting on April 10th, we will consider approving a small grant to make sure these deserving young people have what they need to start out on their own. |

Many hands make light work! We need a large crowd to package food for hungry families around the world. Altrusa International of Temple, TX has participated in these packaging events for 5 years and we have a BLAST every time!! Each bag of rice & nutrients feeds 6 people and most are shipped to Haiti. Last year our efforts went to Syria. We will package the food at First Baptist of Temple on W. Adams April 10th at 6:00pm. Please bring a snack to share and you may sign up family & friends. We will also be joined by the three ASTRA Clubs we sponsor at UMHB, Belton HS, & Salado HS.

Remember the 80's? Neon colors, leggins, and off-the shoulder blouses were all the rage. This year at Conference, Friday night is 80's theme. To help our club stand out in the crowd, we are going to bring back a couple of those rockin' trends. On April 16th, at 6pm, we'll meet at Jessica Kirkland's house to splatter paint shirts and create that iconic off-the shoulder neckline. Bring a shirt you want to use, or let me know your size and I'll pick some up. If you can't come, we will paint one for you. You can bring your shirts to the club meeting on the 10th, to Kids Against Hunger on the 10th, or arrange a drop-off time that works for you. The goal is to make this fun, and a chance to bond with your fellow Altrusans that are going to conference. :) |

Your assistance is needed for our painting project for the Temple Community Clinic. We hope to spend Thursday May 3rd prepping for the painting to be done on Friday and Saturday May 4th and 5th. We could use 10-15 people on Thursday to tape off areas and move things away from walls in preparation for painting. We will begin about 1:00pm Thursday after clinic hours. Friday and Saturday (8:30 am start) will be paint days and we could use 15- 20 people to help us with this task. My goal is to finish on Saturday so we do not have to paint again on Sunday. We have the supplies we need for this project but if you have a particular paint brush you prefer feel free to bring it. Please wear clothing that will not break your heart if you get paint on it. We don’t want any broken hearts. For those that may need it the address for the clinic is 1905 Curtis B Elliot Dr, Temple, TX. Thanks in advance for your willingness to help. On behalf of the Clinic Board I can tell you it is much appreciated.
Sharon Tomlinson Altrusan & Clinic Board President Elect

The purpose of the Service Committee is to help any member propose a grant/project idea to the Board. We will help you fine tune your ideas, fill out the paperwork, and find co-sponsors (when needed). This meeting is a great way to get involved with the ways in which our club serves the community. We seek clarification in sending the best communication to the Board for possible approval. The Service Committee does not approve or disapprove grant/project requests. We also like to go to dinner together after the meeting! |

It's time to have some fun for Fall y'all! Diana and I want to invite you to the first Fall Season social on Monday, August 13th. Wow! We have a great group of members as part of this group and we look forward to spending time with each of you! It's going to be a very fun but informal time of chatting and getting to know each other better over food and drinks. PLUS - we have a SURPRISE presentation that we are planning for one of the upcoming club meetings that we need your help to do. We'll tell you all about it on the 13th. So come to be a part of it! Kelly Nix has graciously opened up her home for this event. As always - if you're able, please bring a dish or beverage to share. But if you run out of time - just bring a smile and a hug! See you soon! P.S. This first event is a Fall Members Only event (yes we are elitist in the best way possible) so that we can plan our Fun Fall Surprise. Sincerely, Your Fall Board Reps - Tara Stafford and Diana Zaremba |
