Hello fellow Altrusans!
At our business meeting on November 9th we approved several projects! Truly wonderful projects that will impact more lives in our community!
1. Communities in School - CIS Southwest Elementary in Belton -  CIS is an organization within the school district where students are referred to that are homeless and needing assistance. Our support will include assisting with their wish list to include books, school supplies, hygiene products, and much more. The amount of dollars going to this project is $1,500.00. Linda Moore and Janna Janes are the project coordinators.
2. Love Covers All -  Christmas Gifts for elderly and disabled at the Belton Senior Housing.  The Belton Senior Housing center is an association of committed and caring individuals of the Greater Belton Area who gratefully recognize the past and future contributions of those served by the Belton Senior Activity Center. There are 150 residents in need of a gift bag. Each bag will consist of 2-3 pair of socks, body wash and lotion. We will have a special collaboration with assistance from the students at Central Texas Christian School with packing and delivery of these gift bags. The amount of dollars going to this project is $2,000. Jamie Mosely and Sarah Davison are project coordinators.
3. More Loving on Foster Love - items from the wish list for Foster Love of Bell County.
Foster Love Bell County exists to raise awareness and mobilize the community to care for those in the child welfare system.  Their belief is that everyone in the community can have a role to play in strengthening biological families and supporting foster/kinship families and case workers. Altrusans will purchase diapers (sizes 4 & 5), diaper wipes, children's pj's, socks and underwear. Approved amount of funds for this project is $1,000.00.  Linda Moore and Janna Janes are the project coordinators.
4. Chrome and Carols: - Chrome and Carols is an event/fund raiser that benefits the United Way of Central Texas. Four - Five Altrusans are being asked to assist in decorating trees on Wednesday December 1st beginning at 11:00 am at the Horny Toad Harley Davidson location 7454 South General Bruce Drive - Temple.  Thursday December 2nd,  4 Altrusans are needed to assist in selling raffle tickets for the Chrome and Carols event beginning at 5:30 pm. For more information see Brenda Hill and or Taryn Cox project coordinators. No funds are being requested from Altrusa.
5. Passion Project - December: Belton Senior Housing. We will collect used or new books from members to give to the lending library at Belton Senior Housing. Residents at this facility are either disabled or are seniors and have very limited income. All books collected for this project will count toward our goal of collecting 10,000 books over the next two years. Please bring your books to the November 23rd and the December 14th meeting. Brenda Hill is the project coordinator.
6. Hope for the Hungry - Holiday Meals for the those in need: Hope for the hungry works to meet spiritual and physical needs of children in Bell County and around the world. The approved funds is $500.00. Susan Cory and Sharon Schmidt are the project coordinators.
As we begin this week of Thanksgiving I want to share my thoughts of sincere Thanksgiving to each of you! You, Altrusans are truly a blessing to me and to this community! This club, this group of individuals, truly impact the lives of many in many positive ways!  I wish each of you and yours a beautiful Thanksgiving Holiday!
