Weekly Update--- October 21, 2018
So excited to see the beautiful blue sky today---I certainly enjoyed a few days of the rain, but this sunny Sunday afternoon is making me smile. I have to brag on our own Mary Pearson & Linda Moore for an outstanding Fall Leadership event in San Antonio this weekend. So exciting to hear ideas from other clubs, and round table discussions with board members of ideas for District Nine and topics  for April Conference. I want to encourage everyone now to 'SAVE THE DATE' for April 26-28 2019--DISTRICT NINE CONFERENCE--more news to come but will definitely have some great workshops and Altrusa learning opportunities that will help all of us and open new possibilities with Altrusa Temple.
This is our busy time of the year with the count down to the TASTE, but next Saturday is Make A Difference Day. I hope to see you at the project next Saturday morning, and if you can only stay a short time that is OK. We will start around 9 (try to take a group picture around 10) and we will be done by 1. All the pre-work has been done by the Season leads that worked w. Jessica and have the materials/items for the rooms. We will also work on setting up the bookcase and the books for the maternity shelter. Our Lady of the Angels Maternity Shelter is located at 613 South 9th Street-Temple. More info on what we are doing is in the notice below, but I know this is going to make a difference for these ladies and for this shelter and appreciate Jessica Kirkland and all her help with this project.

Tuesday is our program meeting----Give More Hugs---see you then!

Thanks to each of you  for "Serving through the Seasons"------Hope
Why I Became an Altrusan
This week Brenda Hill is answering the question on 'Why she joined Altrusa and stays in Altrusa'. Brenda has been in Altrusa over 7 years and has served  on the board and chaired The Taste!

I joined Altrusa because I wanted to give back to my community. I wanted to meet new people and join with them in serving others.

I stay in Altrusa for those same reasons and so much more. I have met many amazing people who inspire me. There are so many role models! I am always learning how to better serve my community and how to be a better person. And, I've made lifelong friends. It is one of the best things I have ever done for myself.
Special Events from Clubs in District Nine
Just adding some notices that I have received from some of the clubs in District Nine----
This is from the Frisco Club----------Dear District Nine Club President,
Altrusa International of Frisco, Inc. is thrilled to be hosting our Second Annual Holiday Tree Extravaganza benefiting Altrusa International Foundation of Frisco, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization. The event includes a traditional holiday dinner and the raffle of several individual 4' decorated holiday trees with unwrapped gifts. (Each tree decorations and gifts valued at a minimum of $200)

Would you please forward this email to your club members. Altrusans and their friends can purchase tickets to the event by visiting our website www.altrusafrisco.org where there is a link near the top right to the event's paypal.

Thank you for helping us make our fundraising event a success.

This is an invite to the Altrusa of Central Texas----  August Program---
I wanted to invite you to our summer program in August.
August’s program – August 28 – will be a fall fashion preview from Dillards in Killeen Mall.  This is a month to focus on what we might want to add to our wardrobe to freshen it up!

Our group meets at the Shiloh Inn on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:45 pm.  The meal, which includes drinks and dessert, is $20.00.  If you would like to attend please RSVP by Monday of the week of the meeting to Marlene DiLillo, mdilillo@gkfclinic.org, or text at 254-289-5003.
