Greeter for Altrusa Meeting

Traci Squarcette will lead us through ClubRunner via computer and ClubRunner via App.  Please bring your phone and password.  Debbie Mabry will lead us through the rich history of Altrusa.  There are 3 Altrusa websites that you can access:  Temple Altrusa, District Nine (which Temple falls under), and International.  Debbie has authored numerous documents that are located in District Nine's site.  She has a plethora of Altrusa knowledge to share.  I will bring Temple's Altrusa "handbook" for those who prefer hard copies.

Beverages and snacks will be provided.

It's time to assemble the Days For Girls kits and Patsy Sulak is opening her home again for us to gather and put them together. 

We will have brunch after the kits are all assembled so please bring food to share.  Patsy will have coffee and water to drink.  You may bring whatever you prefer.

We will package 10,000 - 12,000 meals that will reach impoverished areas around the world!!

At least 50 volunteers are needed to make this happen, and this is a great opportunity to invite friends and family. We want to make them feel welcomed and appreciated. Wouldn't it be great if some decided to become ALTRUSANs? 

Packaging will begin at 9:30am, so please arrive early enough to be ready. Jeff Pedigo with Hope for the Hungry is finalizing a location. He assures me there will be plenty of time with 50 volunteers. So let's focus on quality and getting to know someone a little better.

Goody Bag Distribution for Residents and Staff at Wildflower Place located at 706 Red Coat Dr. in Temple.

As part of the VITA  (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Appreciation project, we will write thank you notes for the VITA volunteers. 

Please join us for our program meeting as we celebrate the 2024 Altrusan of the Year!  It is always a sweet surprise for the honoree.  We will hear from special guests close to the recipient and enjoy a wonderful lunch prepared by the Ralph Wilson Youth Club board members and staff.  The cost for lunch is $20 by cash or check made payable to RWYC.  Please RSVP so we can give an accurate head count.  Money for lunch can be given to Debbie Fendrick or Patsy Sulak at the Business Meeting or the day of the event.

Join us for a fun evening of socializing and getting to know your fellow Altrusans! The event starts at 5:30 at Susie Dawson's home. Dorris Fortson is joining us and will give an update on what is going on at Neema Village in Tanzania. Please bring a guest! Food and drinks will be provided.

The Grey Group has been diligently working to put together a "Stocking the Kitchen" project to benefit Hilltop Recovery Ministries.  We are pleased to announce that the new HRM site has been revamped and the big move from the old HRM site to the new site (509 North 9th Street, Temple- formerly the Cora Anderson building) will occur before Altrusa's workdays.

Much planning has already gone into making this project a success.  Appliances have been ordered & are set for delivery, donated items have been procured & additional purchases are being made to fill the kitchen.  All we need is you!

We are planning two work days, a volunteer opportunity at HRM's Open House/Old Fashioned Pounding (house warming event for the public), and a book drive.  The info., dates & times for these events are as follows:

Workdays:

Altrusa workdays will entail cleaning, organizing and full set up of the kitchen.  This will occur over two days, with two shift each day.  The Director of HRM, Tanya Roper, has requested a limited number of people in the kitchen on these days as space will be limited and the entire building will be abuzz with activity.  Thusly, we will only need 3 volunteers to sign up for each shift.  I will be there, so there will be a total of four working a shift. 

Friday, May 3rd,   9:00 am - 12:00 pm & 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Saturday, May 4th,   9:00 am - 12:00 pm & 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

HRM Open House:

HRM will be hosting an Open House and has requested the assistance of 3 Altrusans to help welcome guests, receive donations & offer refreshments.

Saturday, May 18th,  4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Book Collection:

Finally, Altrusa will be providing reading material to fill the book cases at HRM.  I intend to reach out to a couple of foks to take the lead on this task: however,  If you have a burning desire to help out with this portion of the project, I would GREATLY appreciate it.  And I'd love you forever too!  Just let me know!

As always... thank you for your willingness to be of service to others.  This project is near and dear to the hearts of so many and your help will go a long way in helping to restore the lives of women in our community.  Thank you!

All Altrusans and guests are cordially invited to Altrusa International of Temple, TX 2024-2025 Installation of Officers on May 28, 2024 at the Temple Community Clinic (1508 W. Ave. J, Temple).  

Social (BYOB) - 5:30 pm.,  Dinner (Catered by The Kolache Kitchen) - 6:00 p.m.   Cost is $30 per person and should be paid to Regina Phinney by May 21.  I will be accepting payments by check (payable to Altrusa Temple) and exact cash at Altrusa meetings.  We hope all of you can attend to help celebrate this year's many accomplishments in the President's report and see our amazing new club officers installed.

WooHoo!  It is CAMP TIME AGAIN!

Camp Dreamcatcher is one of our SIGNATURE PROJECTS every year!  This is the day that we NEED ALL HANDS ON DECK!  Please consider coming to assist!  You will be assigned an area and task after Debbie gets a good idea of who will be there.  There are jobs of all levels and you will be so happy you came and learned more about these special campers and our role in helping get them to camp every year.

Please RSVP so we can make sure all spots are covered.  This is a good opportunity for new members and family members to serve as well.  We always need a few men as well.  Be mindful that these campers are cancer and blood disorder patients and their siblings so please do not come if you are not feeling well.  We love your servant heart but we need to make sure these campers stay as safe as possible.

Mark your calendars for July 30, 2024, 5:30-7:30!

Let’s explore, have fun, and enjoy each other’s company as we spotlight the Temple Children’s Museum!

Please register for this 5^th Tuesday event.  Children and grandchildren welcome. 

Parking at the museum is limited, but we may also park at First Methodist Church across the street.

Light snacks will be provided.

Come join us as we prepare hygiene kits for Belton ISD school children that are participating in Project Appletree.  The contribution of Altrusa Temple is to include in their backpacks a kit with shampoo, bar soap, washcloth and a comb.  Each child will also be able to choose a new book to take home with them.

Please join us for happy hour on Thursday August 15 at The Bold Republic Brewery at 7070 Stone Hollow Rd  in Temple 76502.  We will gather at 5:30 pm.  In addition to beer and wine, the Brewery offers bar menu items including salads and sandwiches. Hope to see you there!
