Altrusa Newsletter, Issue No. 35, February 17, 2017
We had a very productive business meeting, Tuesday, February 14th. The two projects approved by members at the meeting are Brazus and Helping Hands Snack Sacks. These are two awesome projects that will continue our service and have a great impact on the recipients, which happen to be children in our community.
Three new members were initiated: Jacque Ramba, Kim Keiper, and Emmah Hunt. Please join me in welcoming these three women to a group of great folks who love Altrusa and making a difference in our community.
Our Nominating Committee has completed the task of presenting a slate of officers for the 2017-2018 Altrusa year that begins after installation in May 2017. Nominations will be taken from the floor during our business meeting March 7th with the election being held that same meeting.
Help support Camp Dreamcatcher: This year’s District Nine conference approved service project is Camp Dreamcatcher and we are so excited! We have added some fun features to raise money because “Every kid deserves to go to camp”. We are now holding a Virtual Race called Catch the Dream which began on January 11th (100 days until conference) but it’s not too late to participate. Simply register online https://squareup.com/store/altrusa-international-of-temple-tx-foundation to walk/run/bike either 50 miles ($25), 100 miles ($50), or “sleep-in” and don’t run at all ($75) before April 21st. Return the log sheet provided at registration and receive a beautiful medal!
At conference in April, we have also added a new “hands-on” opportunity with two sessions during workshops to decorate bed signs & other tasks for this year’s camp. See your District Nine conference packet for more details. Please call or email Traci Squarcette,Debbie Fendrick,Debbie Mabry, orJulie Ruizwith any questions.
It's time for us to review our Club Policies andClub Fiscal Policies. I have attached them for your review. The linked files are from last Altrusa year. Please take a moment to review them and email me with any recommendations or changes (other than typo's) :) by Tuesday, February 28th. Your suggestions will be taken to the Policy Review Committee for review.
One final item:
Your help is needed! We will need to have Room Monitors during the times below for the ‘Everything Room’ at District Conference. This is the room that will have the club displays, the silent auction items and great vendors, so we will need staff during the times so everyone can visit.
You can sign up directly on the Altrusa International of Temple, TX, Inc. website by clicking here. We appreciate your participation and look forward to making this a great event together!
If you plan to go to Conference in April 2017, don't forget to make your hotel reservation. The reservations at the host hotel could go quickly! Conference is a ton of fun and you will enjoy spending time with Altrusans from Temple and the other clubs in Disctrict Nine. Email me if you have any questions dorothyg@hot.rr.com.
Debbie Fendrick will be coordinating housing and travel for our District Nine Conference in Waco in 2017.
