For those of you who were able to have a Holiday Monday, I certainly hope you enjoyed it!. It left us with a four-day workweek, which is always GREAT!
At our board meeting this week, six projects were approved, which will be brought to the Business Meeting Tuesday, September 13th for membership approval. AND...we will be installing several new members. I am always so very excited to welcome new members into our midst. Altrusa is such an amazing organization I want to share it with everyone.
Our Make A Difference Day Chair, Susan Cory and her team of Altrusans are busy bringing together a very special MADD project. Not only are we supplying The Well (the Women's area at Feed My Sheep) with business clothing, we have a children's table and chairs donation acquired by Christina Sparks for the children's area of The Well. Barb Pearcy acquired a donation for a classroom rug and we are going to place bookshelves in the area. So...We need you to look at your bookcases at home and see what children's pre-school books and women's books you may have that can be donated. We are also looking for "new" children's pre-school books to go in the blessing bags we are going to make and stock with newborn items. We will be collecting the books at each meeting in September...So...Lots of opportunities to help with our Make A Difference Day!
Please join me at our meeting...remember...if you are having lunch, it will be served beginning at 11:30 for those of you who want to come early.
And don't forget to BRING A COUPLE OF BOOKS TO EACH MEETING IN SEPTEMBER!

Remember the challenges from last week...100 hours of personal service through Altrusa projects and fundraisers or other community service performed while wearing your Altrusa logo or pin? AND the donation of 100 books to our community? Well...here's an update...
Our wonderful Communications Committee, chaired by Chip Howell, will be collecting the service hours and completing the forms for us. So, all we have to do is continue to list our service hours when we check in for each meeting. How cool is that? THANK YOU, Communications Committee!
AND...ideas are still coming in for donating 100 books to the community. THANK YOU, to all who have submitted ideas. We are still collecting ideas for this project so if you know of a facility that could use some books, please send me that information and we will add it to our list. If you plan to go to Conference in April 2017, don't forget to make your hotel reservation. The reservations at the host hotel could go quickly!
