Weekly Update - January 15, 2018
We welcomed three new members on Tuesday at the business meeting- Debbie Wagaman, Robin Early and Ashton Moore. So excited for all the new members this year and Debbie Gorden has scheduled a new member meeting on Feb 12. This is a great time to learn more about Altrusa and how to get plugged in with the club. Anyone can attend!

January is the time we are having our club drive for Club 21. Kathy Folley will have another announcement at the program meeting on Club 21, so if you need to renew or join for the first time, you will have the opportunity at the meeting on Jan 23.

Please plan to attend our program meeting on Jan 23. Our own Altrusan, Sherri Woytek will speak on the Temple Community Clinic. Excited to hear all the great activities going on with their service to our area.

Don’t forget we have a 5th Tuesday social on Jan 29th. It will be a good time at J Kowboy’s  to enjoy some time to visit.
Altrusa International of Orange

Here are the names of our Altrusa members in the Orange Club and their situations after Hurricane Harvey:

Club President Beverly Helton and her husband are currently living with a friend in Bridge City waiting to start repairs on their home.  They did have Flood Insurance and expect to be receiving those funds soon.  They are searching for a trailer to park in the driveway when repairs begin.  They had four feet of water in their home and lost furniture, appliances and household items.  If you have or know of a trailer they can use, please contact Beverly.
Donna Faye Borres has been displace and lost most of her possessions when her apartment flooded.  She is currently living with her son.
Diane Turner had been recovering from her home being flooded last year when water was released from Toledo Bend Dam.  During the Harvey disaster, she lost her truck and her home.  She is staying with family and has replaced her vehicle.
Vicki Hamilton and her husband lost their home and have been displaced.  They have decided to walk away.  They are moving to higher ground to rebuild their lives.  They have survived two hurricanes…Ike and Harvey.
Sue Denosowicz and her mother, Marietta Howington are back in their homes, but lost their family business to flooding.
Deborah Mitchell and her husband feel blessed to be able to live in their home.  She has been cooking meals and opening her home to anyone would like to stop by for a meal.
Gale Beckett, Burneat Paul and Joey Williamson and okay and did not have flooding.

As you can see, several of these members are personally devastated and are hurting.  If you or your clubs would like to assist these members, please feel free to gather up some gift cards and send them to:

Cindy Jolly, Revitalization Chair
4810 Turnback Street
Lago Vista, TX  78645

Cindy will make sure that they get to the appropriate members.  You can send them with names attached to them or just as a bundle.  This is one way that District Nine Altrusans can help other District Nine Altrusans.  These members are not in need of material items at this time as they have no place to put them, but could use generic type cards to help with food, gas and the necessities of life.
